Practical aids and advice

There are a number of practical aids and advice services that are available for patients with visual problems.

Information about emotional support and counselling can be accessed through the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) at www.rnib.org.uk. The RNIB also provide links to telephone social groups that are available for people with visual problems.

 

Aids and devices that may also assist the patient:

• Talking books
• Kindle, where size of text can be increased
• Audio description on TV
• Computers and mobile phones to help people with visual problems in relation to work, leisure and keeping in contact
