Mobility |
Why is mobility and getting out of the house important?
- Miserable, isolated, poor health (Cragg 1994; Gilhooly 2003)
- Imprisoned, housebound and cooped up (Pound 1998)
- Not getting to the doctors, dentist, opticians (Lovette 2002)
- People over 80 years of age take half as many trips outdoors
- 42% of stroke patients want to get out more often (Logan 2001)
- Occupational therapists assess for outdoor mobility in 84% of cases
