Mobility |
Improving mobility
- Physiotherapy and occupational therapy can improve mobility (Wade et al. 1992). Therapy in the patient’s own home has also been shown to be more effective in improving activities of daily life, compared to therapy in hospital (Gladman et al. 1995)
- Therapy in a patient’s own home can be tailored to meet the needs of the patient and carer by tackling everyday problems that the patient may face in their own home such as climbing stairs and bathing
Outdoor mobility
- Outdoor mobility is also very important to the vast majority of patients
- Getting out of the house can be important for both a patient’s physical and psychological health
