Mobility |
A number of factors may influence mobility including:
- Weakness or paralysis of muscles on one side
- Spasticity where the muscles are tight and stiff
- Loss of co-ordination
- Visual problems
- Loss of sensation
- Pain
- Fatigue
- Loss of confidence
- Fear of falling
- Side effects of some medication can also cause drowsiness and fatigue
Apart from stroke, other factors that influence mobility may include:
- Previous mobility levels
- Other health problems such as arthritis, breathlessness or painful joints
- Environmental factors such as a lack of handrails or large steps
