Common difficulties
- Often the patient will report the affected arm to be “useless” and not use it
- Manipulation and keeping hold of objects
- Controlling the force and direction of movements
- Using hand for precise movements
- Identifying items by touch (stereognosis)
- Using arm /leg when out of sight (i.e. walking)
- Decreased safety - knocking affected arm or leg, lying or sitting on limb, burning or cutting self etc.
