Treatment
Arm function
- Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy*; this includes high-intensity Repetitive Task Training, e.g. polishing table
- Mental practice with motor imagery (used as an adjunct to conventional therapy)
Transfers or Balance
- Repetitive Task Training, e.g. sit-to-stand practice, decreased support while cleaning teeth, stand on weak side
Walking speed
- Repetitive Task Training (walking practice)
*Should only be considered in people who have 20 degrees of active wrist extension and 10 degrees of active finger extension, and should only be started if the team has the necessary training and the patient is expected to participate fully and safely (ISWP, Recommendation 6.7.1 B, p84)
