Finances/benefits and advice
Information on Benefits and Financial Assistance can be found in the Stroke Association’s factsheet.
Benefits to consider include:
- Sick pay from employer for a set period of time (if patient was working before stroke)
- Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) – claimed through employer
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- For people who cannot work due to illness or disability
- Must be under state pension age and not claiming SSP
- To claim for ESA, call 0800 055 6688 or download a claim form from the government website www.direct.gov.uk
