How should a patient put on a shirt or sweater?
- The patient should lay the shirt/sweater on their lap or in front of them on a bed, with the back of the shirt facing upwards
- They should put the affected arm in the sleeve first and then pull the sleeve of the shirt/sweater up to their shoulder or at least over their elbow
- The unaffected arm should then be placed into the other sleeve, then pull on the shirt/sweater.
- Button hooks or Velcro may be useful in assisting a patient with fastening a shirt
