Medication

Patients will be on medication to prevent another stroke from occurring.

It is important to remember that some patients may:

• Lack the ability to concentrate and take in information – what medication to take and when
• Lack the motivation to take medication or order repeat prescriptions
• Have difficulty reading labels
• Lack insight or memory to order repeat prescriptions
• Have communication difficulties so may lack confidence in speaking to the GP surgery or pharmacist
• Be unable to get out of the house to pick up prescriptions
• Have difficulty swallowing tablets with water and may need texture modification of their medication
