Medication
Patients will be on medication to prevent another stroke from occurring.
It is important to remember that some patients may:
- Lack the ability to concentrate and take in information – what medication to take and when
- Lack the motivation to take medication or order repeat prescriptions
- Have difficulty reading labels
- Lack insight or memory to order repeat prescriptions
- Have communication difficulties so may lack confidence in speaking to the GP surgery or pharmacist
- Be unable to get out of the house to pick up prescriptions
- Have difficulty swallowing tablets with water and may need texture modification of their medication
