Activity
- Use your ‘wrong’ hand to perform a range of activities (those performed daily and less often)
- How much more difficult is it to:
- Clean your teeth? – holding the toothbrush
- Use the toilet? – wiping
- Make something to eat? – holding knives for cutting and spreading
- Have something to eat? – using cutlery
- Clean the house? – holding a duster
- Garden? – holding tools
- Sign your name? – hold pen and write
- The parts of the activity that uses gross function (e.g. moving the arm) may be relatively easy
- The parts of the activity that require finer movements (e.g. using hand to manipulate toothbrush) may be more difficult
Repetition of the task , i.e. practising the task itself. This is the principle behind repetitive task training or task-specific training
How would you improve performing these tasks with your ‘wrong’ hand?
