- Understand what dysphagia (swallowing problems) is and how it impacts upon patients
- Know how to identify dysphagia
- Understand the complications associated with dysphagia
- Understand the importance of good oral hygiene
- Understand the clinical guidelines for stroke relating to dysphagia
- Know the anatomy of the head and neck in relation to swallowing
- Be able to recognise aspiration on x-ray
- Be able to clinically identify aspiration
- Be aware of functional and psychological decline following poor nutrition secondary to dysphagia
