Attention is the ability to focus on one piece of information at a time.

We use attention throughout the day for a range of tasks such as listening to a conversation, talking, cooking, driving and reading.

After a stroke, patients may have difficulty in selecting what requires attention and what does not.

It may be difficult to focus on one task as it is more difficult to filter out other activities, movements or noises.

Problems with attention may also be associated with accidents in the home.
