Attention |
Attention treatments can be any form of practice on attention tasks with the aim of improving attention abilities. These may include:
- Familiar functional tasks such as making a simple snack that will involve paying attention to timings and safety
- Practising a skill until it becomes automatic
Strategies to improve attention:
- Minimise distractions
- Time management - plan ahead and plan all steps to complete the task
- Aids - use the alarm setting on a clock, cooker or mobile phone as a prompt
- Forced rehearsal - during conversations repeat back what has previously been said
- Self questioning - the patient should ask themselves "what should I be doing now?"
